Atlantic City Boat Show 2000 |

Welcome
Winter in the northeast, it's time for the Thursday night gang
to meet at the Atlantic City Boat Show!

49er

|
There's lots to see this year, so let's get started. As usual the
smaller boats are positioned at the entrance. Among the sport boats
this 49er caught my eye. 49ers are gaining popularity world wide as
fast and wet racers.
J-Boats is introducing the new J/24 with a low maintenance design
and factory faired hull, keel and rudder. This boat passes measurement
right out of the box and is ready to win races.
Tartan, Hunter and many other manufacturers displayed their 30+
footers. J-Boats, Precision and MacGregor showed off their 20 to 26
footers. I know, I know, you can't say J-Boats, Precision and
MacGregor in the same sentence. They are very different boats.
The seminars were about the same as last year. Take the Helm
could stand to lighten up a bit. They have become a show within the
show. You couldn't attend just one seminar without paying for the
whole series. Trying to go to all of their seminars wouldn't leave
you much time to see the rest of the show. We'd like to see them
make their format a little more flexible.

We're awarding "Best in Show" to the J/46. It's easy to describe
this powerful cruiser/live-aboard, WOW! That just about says it all.
J-Boats builds a long line of boats from the J/22 to J/160. Their
cruisers are raced world wide and their racers are fast, stable and
fun. The J/46 is the biggest of their family cruisers, with a
beautifully finished interior and clean lines topsides. Here's a
half million dollar boat ready to take you anywhere.
New Wind Corporation presented their Sailboat Rigging Cleaning
System. Now you can clean your standing rigging without going
aloft or pulling the mast. A series of pads are hauled up and down
to clean and lubricate the rigging. The pads, designed by 3M, will
last for three or four cleanings and are easily replaced.
